Hey team, how’s your week going? Mine has been so so nice – I’m having a week off work (for reasons that will soon become clear) and I’m currently holed up in a cafe drinking hot chocolate and writing this. Yesterday I went to the gym in the middle of the day which is my favourite way to exercise but also impossible to do when working in an office full time. I also caught up on Big Little Lies – obsessed. I’m still only halfway through episode 3 but so far it’s everything I hoped it would be and more. Then to top off a really relaxing Monday, I hopped along to my new favourite activity – first Monday book club at Oscar & Friends Booksellers in Surry Hills. We read Hillbilly Elegy by JD Vance, and the group was fairly split in it’s opinions of the book. If you’ve read it, I would love to know what you thought.
There’s been a lot going on over here so I thought I’d pop in and give a little life update of sorts. I’m sure I’m not the only one, but I feel like when it comes to change in my life, it all seems to come at once…
First things first…
Yes, I’m starting a new job next week! Hence the week off now… technically funemployed but going from what has been a high stress, high pressure job to a different role necessitated some time in between. I’m moving from a creative agency role to a client side marketing role at a newspaper – Australia’s only broadsheet, in fact. I’m so excited to take on this role. Newspapers, journalism and writing are three of my great loves and I can’t quite believe I’m about to work at a newspaper. Sixteen year old me would be so proud and probably impressed too. I knew vaguely that this is where I wanted to end up, but I didn’t think it would happen this soon. Just goes to show that the harder you work, the luckier you get.
Moving house (again)
I think I’ve moved house three times or probably more since I started blogging – often enough to have lost track of where I lived and when, but also to have uncovered some useful moving and share house tips. This time is different though – I’m moving in with my boyfriend. He doesn’t get any blog airtime because I prefer to keep that part of my life private, but needless to say I’m excited to decorate a place that we can call home together. I’m sad to be leaving my little apartment in Sydney’s leafy east, but also really looking forward to this next chapter. I went back and read this post on living with a significant other, but if anyone has any advice for living with a partner, I’m all ears.
My niece was born in November! Again, not going to share any photos or too many details as that’s not my prerogative, it’s her parents, but I’m loving every minute of being Auntie Amy. She’s so cute and I miss her every day I don’t get to see her, which is a lot of days considering she’s 650 km away. But my sister sends me the cutest photos and videos so I feel like I do get to keep up with how she’s going and growing. She’ll be a heartbreaker, I’ll tell you that much.
Tell me what’s new with you!
